This week is Remember A Charity Week! Taking place from Monday 7th to Sunday 13th September 2026, the week aims to shine a light on the incredible difference made by gifts left to charity in Wills.

What is Remember A Charity Week?

Remember A Charity Week is an awareness campaign encouraging everyone to leave a gift in their Will for a charity once you’ve looked after family and friends.

The organisation is an association of 200 UK charities, working together to raise awareness of leaving charitable gifts in Wills, working closely with the legal sector whilst doing so. The group was launched to encourage more people to consider this form of giving and raise awareness of the impact a gift in a Will can have.

This week, we’re proud to show our support by joining their Campaign Support Scheme! We’re helping spread the message that leaving a gift to charity in your Will is an option after you’ve looked after family and friends.

Why Consider Leaving a Gift to Charity?

By leaving a gift in your Will, you can continue to support causes you care for even when you’re not here. Many charities and community organisations rely on gifts in Wills to help fund large projects and long-term research. By contributing, you’ll be able to honour a charity that’s important to you or a loved one to keep their memory alive.

Tax benefits of Charitable Gifts to Charity

If you choose to leave a gift in your Will to charity, the amount of inheritance tax you pay can be reduced. Any gift you choose to give to charity is exempt from tax. If you choose to give up to 10% or more of your estate to charity*, the inheritance tax rate drops from 40% to 36%. It is important to realise that any amount you choose to give to charity is paid free of inheritance tax. In some circumstances, this gift can reduce the size of your overall estate below the nil-rate band.

Charities We Are Proud to Support

We’re proud to support several fantastic charities, and are delighted to share more about their work below as part of Remember A Charity Week. The charities listed above are examples of the many worthy causes that benefit from charitable legacies.

Leaving a gift to charity in your Will is a very personal decision. The charity you choose should reflect the causes and communities that matter most to you.
