Estella Newbold-Brown is head of the family law department and specialises in divorce, financial & child arrangements, and domestic violence.

We are delighted to share that Estella Newbold-Brown, our Partner and Head of Family Law, has been named a finalist in two categories at the LexisNexis Family Law Awards 2025:

  • Family Law Commentator of the Year
  • Family Law Community Interaction Award (for her work as Co-Founder of the Working Group for Pets on Divorce and Separation)

These prestigious awards recognise excellence and innovation across family law, highlighting individuals and organisations who shape practice, policy, and community engagement.

Recognising Thought Leadership

Estella’s shortlisting as Family Law Commentator of the Year reflects her impactful contributions to public and professional debate. Through articles, podcasts, social media posts, and speaking engagements, she consistently makes complex issues accessible, sparking conversations about reform and client care in family law.

Championing Change for Pets during Divorce

Her second nomination, for the Family Law Community Interaction Award, celebrates her work as Co-Founder of the Pets on Divorce and Separation Working Group, alongside barrister Sarah Lucy Cooper. This initiative is at the forefront of driving awareness and reform around how pets are treated when relationships break down, ensuring that the law in England and Wales better reflects the emotional significance of animals within families.

Looking Ahead

The winners of the LexisNexis Family Law Awards 2025 will be announced at a ceremony on Wednesday, 19 November 2025, at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, London.

Congratulations Estella!

Well done to Estella and to all the finalists in this year’s Lexis Nexis Family Law Awards! We look forward to celebrating with the wider family law legal community in November.
