Care proceedings are court proceedings started by a local authority when there are serious concerns about a child’s safety or wellbeing.
The local authority may apply to the Family Court if they believe a child is suffering, or is at risk of suffering, significant harm. The court will then consider the evidence and decide what arrangements are in the child’s best interests.
Care proceedings can be stressful and uncertain for parents and family members. The process involves social workers, children’s guardians, and legal professionals, all providing information to help the court reach a decision.

Yes, you can represent yourself in care proceedings, but it is rarely recommended.
